Decided to start posting some stuff to make more pple interested in the site...
I decided to try an experiment with this P. fuscatus queen. normally, wasps would not go into straight hibernation untill like at least November. But i put this girl in the fridge early (about 2 weeks ago) and i plan on waking her early around mid Decemeber. normally wasps would have a much longer period of hibernation, around 4 months here in PA. also it would be much colder than in a fridge. so this is the first time I or anyone else i know has tried this.
I put her in a smallish container with some dryer lint in it. i wraped a piece of cloth around the container to keep it somewhat dark for her so she does not get disturbed when we open the fridge. so far she has been in there 8 days and seems to be doing fine. im not gonna check on her again untill its time to wake her in December... I'll lupdate you when i wake her up!!!!!!!!!
